Food to Live Walnuts review

Walnuts are one of the highest quality snacks in the health food marketplace! They are extremely nutritious: just one ounce of walnuts gives you nearly 10 percent of the fiber you need for a whole day! One ounce also provides four grams of protein. This healthy snack is delicious, too!

Walnuts are rich in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and are also a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which help protect against heart disease & stroke, some forms of cancer and some autoimmune disorders. In addition, walnuts are a good source of minerals (like potassium, copper, magnesium, etc. ) and vitamins. They are full of powerful antioxidants, and have even been found to help lower the risk of clinical depression! Just one ounce of walnuts/ about seven shelled walnuts will provide you with powerful health benefits without providing excessive calories. Read more…

Adding walnuts (and other nuts) to your Diet may help you live longer!

A 30-year long Harvard study found that people who ate a small handful (approximately one ounce or 28 grams) of nuts seven times per week /or more were 20 percent less likely to die for any reason, compared to those who avoided nuts. Walnuts in Vintage pressed Glass Bowl

Also, as reported by the Washington Post: “Even those who ate nuts less than once a week had a seven percent reduction in risk. Consuming nuts at least five times a week corresponded to a 29 percent drop in mortality risk for heart disease, a 24 percent decline in respiratory disease and an 11 percent drop for cancer.”

I only buy organic, raw and unsalted walnuts. The reason is simple  – organic, raw and unsalted walnuts are much healthier than other walnuts. When walnuts are heated or roasted, they lose some of their minerals, enzymes, and nutrients.

If you prefer salted walnuts it’s better to put your own, high-quality salt on them. I buy Himalayan pink salt. However, try to avoid too much salt. Read more about  Healthy (Med Diet) eating habits…

Buy walnuts and other nuts that you need – in bulk. They’re less expensive and fresher.Walnuts in Green Bowl, Wooden Nutcracker

As soon as I get them home, I immediately put them in the fridge, ideally in an air-tight container. Storing them this way will keep them fresh longer and will help prevent them from going rancid. If you won’t need them for month or more, you can store them in your freezer.

  1. I like walnuts. I always stored them at room temperature but will now keep them in the refrigerator. I never realized its nutritional value until this review, that an ounce can deliver so much fiber and protein. Is there any downside to eating too much of it?
    Thanks for the review!

    • I’m glad you found valuable info on my blog post. And you’re right – walnuts have great nutritional value, but… There are some side effects of eating too many walnuts, like stomach problems, allergic reactions and weight gain (in the long- term).
I hope this helped. If you have any further question, please feel free to contact me.

  2. I have to say, it’s a relief I’m not allergic to walnuts! I also love walnuts, but they can be a tad bit pricey. I read your about me and saw that Mediterranean Diet is the highly suggested diet by nutritionists. I will definitely look into that!

The nutritional benefits of walnuts are amazing. I should eat more of it! >.<

    • That is correct. The Mediterranean Diet is highly recommended diet by nutritionists. It’s also considered as the World’s Healthiest Diet based on various diet research & studies. You should definitely give it a try
Regarding walnuts – their nutritional benefits are really amazing!

    • Thank you, Yvette. You’re right, walnuts contain good fiber, too. This combination of healthy fats, protein, and fiber in walnuts increase satisfaction and fullness, which makes them a great snack.

  3. Wow, such an informative and well written review. I really like how it’s a decent-sized bag (2.5 pounds) and not extremely small like other options. I may have to get some for myself since the price is right AND the taste is good, it’s fresh and contains great quality. Thank you for your help, I’ll be sharing this review with my friends!
